Kircubbin Play Provision Consultation

Overview

The playground at Parsonage Road has been identified as being in need of refurbishment by the annual Independent Inspectors Assessment.  

The Ards and North Down Play Strategy 2021-2032, proposed closing the playground at Parsonage Road, which is a Tier 2 and upgrading the playground at The Green (shore) from a Tier 2 to a Tier 1.  It was also proposed to relocate the partial Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at Parsonage Road to The Green (shore) and replacing it with a full MUGA or another type of older children facility as will be identified by this consultation.

(Tier 2 example Aurora (Bangor) or Conlig or Helens Bay).

The aim of this consultation is to ascertain the views of local residents in the Kircubbin area with regards to the future of the Parsonage Road playground and what type of older children facility that should be delivered at The Green (shore).   

The playground, depending on the preferred option, will be delivered before the end of March 2024.  The older children facility will be delivered in the future, it should be noted that depending on the facility type, planning permission may be required to be obtained before the facility can be delivered.
